Budget consultations to begin next month
Published: 20 September 2017
The 2018 national budget consultations will begin early next month, with a view to cover a lot of ground considering the challenges facing the economy.

The consultations are critical in informing fiscal authorities on what businesses, local authorities, social sectors and the population at large require to be included especially the allocation of funds for capital projects.

It is against this background that the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget and Finance will embark on wide consultations across the country to tap into the views from the various sectors, according to the committee chairman, Cde David Chapfika.

Traditionally, the national budget for the following year is presented towards the end of the year, amid expectations from stakeholders as they would want to find out fiscal measures to carry into the forthcoming year.

Economic growth projections and taxation issues will also come under spotlight during national budget presentation.
