Zim denies signing secret uranium deal
Published: 14 August 2013
Mines Minister Obert Mpofu on Saturday denied reports in a British newspaper that it had signed a secret uranium trade deal with Iran.

The Times of London had reported quoting deputy minister Gift Chimanikire that the country had signed a MoU to export uranium to Iran.

Mpofu said even though Zimbabwe was a free country which can trade with any country it had not signed an agreement with Iran.

Sunday Mail says police have launched a manhunt for British journalists Jerome Starkey and Jan Raath for spreading falsehoods over that story.

Chimanikire denied ever making that statement. Zimbabwe does not even have a uranium mine.
