Telecel opens new branch in Victoria Falls

Telecel Zimbabwe today (Wednesday) officially opened its new branch in Victoria Falls, just two days before the United Nations World Tourism Organisation general assembly opens in the resort town.

The new branch is better located and more spacious than the old branch. It is the ninth new branch that Telecel has opened in recent months.

Officially opening the branch, Telecel Zimbabwe Customer Operations Director Zodwa Chinyenze said Telecel had been working on enhancing and improving the service it provides in Victoria Falls for the benefit both of the delegates to the UNWTO general assembly and other visitors to the Victoria Falls and of the people of Victoria Falls.

She said the technical improvements effected by Telecel in Victoria Falls and the surrounding areas were intended to provide lasting high quality mobile voice and data connectivity.

"The opening of this branch is part of our efforts to further improve the service we offer in this town. The branch is more spacious and more conveniently located than the branch it replaces.

"It is also part of our efforts to extend and improve our branch network. This branch is one of nine new branches Telecel has opened recently. By the end of the year we expect to have opened a further five new branches," she said.

"The new branches, which are intended to bring our operations closer to the people, coupled with our new state-of-the-art call centre in Harare, where calls are generally answered within three rings, should make it easy for our customers to obtain assistance whenever they need it."

Ms Chinyenze highlighted Telecel's support for the UNWTO assembly. She said Telecel's lighting up of the Victoria Falls bridge between Zimbabwe and Zambia would serve as a semi permanent reminder of the UNWTO assembly, since Telecel had committed itself to lighting up the bridge for the next 15 years.

"The bridge illumination, which has 1,8 million colour options, should be spectacular. It will add to the natural beauty of the Victoria Falls, making the bridge visible from both Zimbabwe and Zambia even at night," Ms Chinyenze said.

She said the bridge, which had stood the test of time, was symbolic, reflecting the strong links that exist between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

She expressed the hope that the new branch would be made good use of.

"This new branch we are officially opening is, we believe, conveniently situated not only for Victoria Falls residents but for the many visitors that flock to this town to see for themselves the amazing waterfall after which the town is named.

"I hope our regular customers and potential customers in Victoria Falls will make good use of this branch that we now officially put at your service," she said.

Ms Chinyenze drew the attention of guests at the official opening, who included the Victoria Falls town clerk, Mr Philip Ndlovu, to the Telecel Red desk in the branch.

She said Telecel Red, a subscription based platform which offers subscribers usage equivalent to up to five times the cost of the subscription, was already proving popular with executive mobile phone users.

Telecel Red packages include such benefits as unlimited calls to one Telecel number, all Telecel numbers or all numbers regardless of network, depending on the package selected.

Telecel Red customers can also purchase smart phones or an iPad on credit. The repayments are combined with the subscription over a 12 month or 24 month period.
