Buildtech rebrands, expands

Published: 16 October 2013
A Bulawayo retailer specialising in building material and industrial products is expanding its operations by opening more branches. Formerly known as Buildtech Building and Industrial Merchants, the company has rebranded to Dee-Bee Hardware, the name of the parent company.

The operations director, Mr Huitsimang Dube, said they were in the process of expanding the business and the rebranding was part of the process.

"The rebranding process has already started. We opened a branch in Gwanda on 1 August and another one here in Bulawayo at Fort Street on 1 September," he said.

Mr Dube said the company had been operating at a corporate market level catering mainly for corporate companies but now wanted to expand into the cash market.

"We want to expand into the cash market whereby we will supply everyone even someone who comes in without having placed an order," he said.

He said that the product profile had not changed.

"We are not changing our product profile or anything else, the only thing that is changing is the trade name," said Mr Dube.

He said that as they were expanding, they wanted to avoid using many different names which will end up confusing clients.

"As we are growing and expanding, we want to avoid using different names that is why we decided to rebrand our trading name to be the same with the name of the company to keep one identity," he said.

"It is due to the company's vision for growth that the subsidiaries or trading names should take after the main company name that is Dee-Bee Eng (Pvt) Ltd, trading as Dee-Bee Hardware. The future is looking at Dee-Bee Transport, Timbers, Mineral resources and the list goes on."
