The Zimbabwe Diamond Technology Centre (ZDTC) set up in 2010 to help locals add value locally to the country's rough diamonds, will soon start diamond beneficiation in Harare, according to reports.

The launch of the diamond beneficiation project will see the attendance of leading dignitaries of the global diamond industry including those in Zimbabwe.

Some of the work undertaken by ZDTC so far has been to train locals in diamond valuation, grading, cutting and polishing, reports say.

So far Zimbabwe has borrowed technical knowledge from outside and is now hopeful that the beneficiation will help boost employment and investment, reports say.
