MOTOROLA Solutions, a provider of mission-critical communication solutions and services, is enhancing its presence in Zimbabwe, where it has launched new enterprise mobility products, including the latest enterprise Smartphone TC55.

Carlos Ferraz, general manager of Motorola Solutions Enterprise in Africa, said the expansion of business operations was intended to support the needs of Zimbabwe's developing business sector.

"Zimbabwe today holds great potential for market growth with its rich resources and a strong entrepreneurial culture," he said of Motorola's new Zimbabwean thrust.

"Recognising this potential, Motorola Solutions is enhancing its presence in order to support Zimbabwe's market with real enterprise solutions that will drive businesses forward and provide customers with better and faster services," he said.

Motorola Solutions launched its latest enterprise mobility products, devices that include the new pocket-sized TC55 touch computer.

Based on the most popular version of the Android operating system, the TC55 merges the features of a traditional enterprise-class mobile computer with the form factor and functionality of a Smartphone.

Designed for the field service, merchandising and direct store delivery markets, the TC55 offers an advanced capacitive 4,3-inch high-resolution touch screen, which is brighter both indoors and outdoors and dynamically adjusts to the environment enabling input with a bare or gloved finger or a stylus even if the screen is wet.

The TC55's suite of high-performance data capture features can help mobile workers better serve their customers and improve efficiency by capturing bar codes, signatures, documents, photos and videos with ease.

In addition to the TC55, Motorola Solutions will be offering Zimbabwe's market a portfolio of next generation enterprise mobility products including tablets and mobile computers.

Ferraz presented a taste of this portfolio including the ET1 Enterprise Tablet, the SB1 Smart Badge, the MC40 Enterprise Assistant and the MC45 mobile computer.

Motorola Solutions' recent $200 million acquisition of Psion has enabled it to flesh out its mobile computing portfolio and gain deep expertise in the manufacturing, industrial and supply chain sectors, where Psion has traditionally been strong.

Together with Psion, Motorola Solutions offers complete end-to-end solutions for knowledge workers and line workers, both indoors and outdoors.

"Motorola Solutions is a leading provider of communication technologies and solutions.

"For many years we have been supplying our public safety and enterprise solutions to the African market.

"The new enterprise mobility solutions showcased today have proved successful around the world and we are excited to introduce them to the Zimbabwe market," said Ferraz.

For the marketing of its extended basket of solutions, Motorola Solutions has partnered with well-entrenched distributor Westcon Africa.

Motorola Solutions will also be strengthening partnerships with Westcon's channels, thus expanding the company's operations in the local market.

Westcon Africa and other partners will offer products and back end support to the customers in Zimbabwe.

Robbie Scott, of Westcon Africa said: "We are proud to strategically partner with Motorola Solutions to support the growing needs of businesses in Zimbabwe.

As the largest distributor of IT products and solutions in the region, Westcon Africa will spearhead the launching of Motorola's innovative products and drive businesses into the mobile era."
