Powertel Communications, a State owned Internet Service Provider has rebranded their logo and has changed their corporate colours too. The telecommunications company's colors have been changed from blue and red to a lighter blue and yellow.

The old logo is from back in the days when the company emerged from its parent power company ZESA. The new logo has a more consumer feel and is much simpler and rounder.

Powertel has now completed interconnection commercial arrangements with other voice providers locally and should finally start offering voice calls to other networks locally in the coming weeks.

Along with that will be the introduction of new devices; mobile phones and Mi-Fi modems. For these new customer devices Powertel has struck deals with local device companies like Astro and GTel.

Powertel is also finally introducing its prepaid broadband services, a development that has been outstanding since the company implemented a new billing system last year.

The company also looks to have a new deliberate drive to go after the consumer market with its broadband and voice services. Furthermore the company is also expected to offer consumer service shops around the country in the coming months and at the moment they have one at Joina City.

Powertel has also launched prepaid internet for its broadband subscribers at affordable rates.

The new promotion allows its customers to buy internet data bundles up to $6.00, which enables them to surf the internet for five days.

The price of the dongle has also been slashed to as low as $25 in order to enable low data users to also access the internet.

"In terms of the price of data, Powertel's new package is really affordable as compared to other internet service providers," said a Powertel official who requested anonymity.

"The only service that comes closer in terms of pricing is Econet's Facebook bundle which allows its customers to 95 cents for unlimited access to Facebook for a week," he added.

The product is expected to increase the uptake of their consumer mobile broadband as customers who cannot afford to pay for the regular monthly package will be able to pay just for a day or week.

Over the past years internet users used to get internet from mobile broadband operators such a Telecel, Netone, Telone and Econet.

At the moment the Powertel`s new bundles can be bought at Powertel shops and ZESA banking halls.

However retail outlets like OK, Spar will be distributing the product soon.

Powertel, which is wholly owned by the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) Holdings is said to be capable of providing uninterrupted Internet services.business
