THE inaugural Tourism and Security Conference, which was scheduled to be held tomorrow has been postponed to a date to be announced, The Office of the President and Cabinet advised yesterday.

The conference, to be held under the Ease of Doing Business Reforms, is being spearheaded by the OPC's, Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Ray Ndhlukula said.

The OPC launched the Ease of Doing Business initiative in 2015, to fine-tune the business playing field to make it attractive and easy for those willing to invest in various sectors of the economy.

This was also a response to President Mugabe's call to reform the investment climate. "The Office of the President and Cabinet will advise of new dates," said Dr Ndhlukula.

Tourism players believe the Ease of Doing Business reforms are key to repositioning the country's tourism industry to contribute to the overall economic growth and turnaround. With an ambitious target of building a $5

billion tourism industry, which will contribute 15 percent of the country's gross domestic product sustained by 5 million tourist arrivals by 2020, the Ease of Doing Business programme was a pillar upon which the targets would be met.
